2020 Goals

In 2019, I started using the Cultivate What Matters Powersheets + this tool COMPLETELY changed the game for me when it comes to goal setting. You can read here how it changed my life and business, as well as what my goals were for last year.

So, in true first of the year fashion, and in this case first of the decade, I have put pen to paper and started working on my 2020 goals for life and business using the Powersheets again this year.

I am happy to report that the progress I made last year was so much more than I expected and I am hoping for even better results this year.

I chose six big, overarching goals for 2020 + plan to accomplish those goals by setting smaller, mini goals and action items to work toward throughout the year.

My goals are:

  • Become a healthier me

    • I want to move my body more + ideally shed a few pounds. I want to floss and take better care of my teeth, I want to make a hair appointment every six weeks for a trim + I want to take better care of my hair. Last year I worked hard to create a morning/night skin care and vitamin routine and I want to continue that as well.

  • Financial freedom

    • I’ve always been pretty frugal, but I want to build my savings and retirement funds. Being self employed, that takes on a whole new meaning. I want to be able to pay cash for AT LEAST half of a new vehicle for myself. I’ve never gotten to pick out any of my own vehicles, so this is really exciting for me. I want to have our new horse trailer completely paid off in 2020 as well. It’s lofty, but these things are important to me. I will not be buying books or clothes this year.

  • Work smart

    • This is something I really believe I did well in 2019, but can continue to get better at. I was able to hire a virtual assistant - my friend Mollie - and she is so helpful and so great to have on my team. My turn around time for photos has increased and I have worked to streamline my workflow using Honeybook, a client relationship management software. I want to continue these habits as well as schedule my days so I have less distractions + mind wandering.

  • Be a servant wife

    • Justin’s love language is acts of service, so this is something that is really important for me. I hope you don’t take this in the wrong context in that I am his servant and he is mine. That’s not the case at all. It’s just a good way to love someone who appreciates acts of service. I’m a 2 on the enneagram, so I think this is part of why it works well for us. But, as an enneagram 2 I seek validation and words of praise for my time/efforts, so I’m working this year to not lean so heavily on those things and to be more sincere in my acts.

  • Continue personal development

    • I learned in 2019 that I really love working on myself, my goals, and trying to get better. I think it’s because I’m not a student anymore, so I was craving some kind of education or way to grow and this was it for me. I plan to read more of Donal Miller, Brene Brown, and books of that sort. I also plan to spend more time in the Word and journaling to channel my energies for effective growth.

  • Make time for hobbies/recreation

    • In 2019 it was Justin’s first year to not be cowboying on a ranch, so he had evenings and weekends off for the first time in his adult life/our relationship. As a result, we went to A LOT of new rodeos and places, and I loved it! We learned that we both really enjoy camping and time on the water, so this summer I want to be mindful of planning time for those activities specifically instead of traveling/going so much. We both really enjoyed having the garden last summer and plan to do that again. This year, I want to start our plants from seeds in the spring vs buying the starts. I want to continue reading a lot so that I will spend less time on my phone. Additionally, I want to create more art + more photos for me and for the BC Print Shop. This goal ties very heavily in with the Work Smart so I have more time for hobbies and recreation.

These aren’t huge goals in the grand scheme of life, but over the course of a year or more of working toward these small milestones they will be life changing for me, my business, and my marriage. It’s important and it’s about where I want to be when I’m 80, so I’m working now to make that happen.

I’m super pumped to see what this year has in store for all the things and I’m so thankful you’re along for the ride. What are some of your 2020 goals? Share with me in the comments!

I love ya!! - BC
