What to wear when photographing a wedding?
I spent years and years trying to find the perfect thing to wear on a wedding day that is both functional and comfortable but also professional. In 2018, I FINALLY found (and fell in love with) jumpsuits + I’m never going back. Every now and then, I mix it up, so here are a few of my fav wedding day outfits as a photographer!
OH, let’s not forget shoes. Shoes have been even more of a battle to find the perfect fit (pun intended), but I’ve finally found a few that I LOVE through trial + error.

This outfit is obvi more on the casual side, but is something I would wear to a ranch wedding or a wedding that is having a ceremony out in a field. Basically, I feel safe wearing jeans at any wedding that I know the groomsmen are wearing jeans. While I believe pressed jeans look nicer, they are harder to move in, so I don’t wear those on wedding days. Boots aren’t always the comfiest, but I’ve added Dr. Scholls inserts into these Larry Mahan boots + they are SO comfy. I found the inserts on Amazon!
Jumpsuits are SO handy because they have pockets AND they’re so easy to move around in without having to worry about flashing the crowd or your dress blowing around. I use a sweater or cardigan to cover up on colder days. And ya’ll - these shoes are a GAME CHANGER. I’ve been a Chaco lover for years, but I found this dressier pair last year that are just as great as the more casual pair. They are on, what I consider, the more expensive end, but when it comes to my feet, I’m willing to pay!! You can find these shoes HERE. I have them in the color tan.
90 percent of my jumpsuits come from Old Navy, including this one! They’re affordable and so comfy. This cardigan is also Old Navy. No shame in my game. Now, let’s talk shoes again. These shoes are a GAME CHANGER!! They are Dr. Scholls sneakers that I found on Amazon. Again, they’re not the cheapest sneaker you’ll find, but well worth money to save your feet on a wedding day.
Sometimes, in the cooler months, I will wear these really awesome blazer tooled by my friend Hannah. You can find more of her work here! I have these paired with black Pixie pants from Old Navy and those Dr. Scholls sneakers. I usually wear minimal jewelry when I’m shooting weddings so it’s one less thing to worry about + I usually stick to black outfits or more earthy tones so wearing this blue blazer is usually second to wearing the black one.
I also have and LOVE this pair of Dr. Scholl’s booties. These are usually my go-to on a rainy day. I also got these from Amazon and you can find them HERE. Again, not the cheapest, but quality is WORTH IT!
These are my go-to outfits + shoes and I hope you were able to find some new goodies to add to your wardrobe! Happy shopping!!
