The Why Behind the BC Print Shop

I held my first art gallery in 2016. I sold my fine art images for the first time to the public. I took pre-orders + ordered extra prints and canvases to be sold the day of the event. My friend’s husband built some frames for the prints. I had to use tape to hold the prints in on the back side of those frames. I brought the food + the drinks. My best friend + I spent HOURS the night before setting everything up. I really think I probably spent more making that event happen than I profited from the experience financially, but it didn’t matter to me then + still doesn’t matter to me now.

I was making my own dreams come true. I was hosting an art gallery. It didn’t matter how it was happening but, my gosh, it was happening!!

In 2019, after a few years of not really knowing how to get my art back out there in an efficient way, I launched an online print shop, the BC Print Shop. This streamlined the process (and helped with the cost) of making the art easily accessible and affordable to a wider variety of people in a super easy process. Again, it felt like I was accomplishing a HUGE goal of mine.

Fast forward to Black Friday weekend of 2019, I held my first ‘Black Friday’ sale in the print shop and I was just hoping for one or two sales. I don’t know exactly how many sales I had, but it blew one or two OUT OF THE WATER. I was floored. I was so honored that people wanted MY art, my work, my YEARS of hard work to be hung in their homes or in the homes of their friends and family. Sitting here right now just thinking about it again has me so thankful. Wow.

I have always been inspired, intrigued, and encouraged when I look at western art, especially photography. I remember even as a kid I would sit + look through the same coffee table books for hours, over and over and over. I said one day I would have a book like that. In 2017, I wrote + published a coffee table book titled ‘Tales & Traditions.’ This is a book of 15 short stories + photos featuring farmers and ranchers in the 4 state area who graciously shared their time + life stories with me. I was able to host a book signing event in fall of 2017. Again it was a labor of love + I don’t know what I profited a whole lot from the book endeavor but it meant the world that people would give the time + hard earned money to support my dreams.

I said I would have images in major publications + in art galleries + be honored for my fine art work. While those things haven’t happened yet, it didn’t take me long to realize it’s A LOT harder to make a living that way so I pursued wedding + lifestyle photography as my bread and butter.

My goals and dreams as a kid are still with me and I still want to make those happen, but for now the BC Print Shop is helping me get there. Slowly but surely, with your help, we’re making it happen. That’s my WHY. That is why the BC Print Shop is so near and dear to my heart.

I plan to update + add new images for your consideration throughout the year so if you would, keep a lookout for those updates. For now, you can find the BC Print Shop HERE. Take a look around + see if anything strikes your fancy and know that I deeply appreciate EVERY SINGLE order from the print shop.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being here! - BC
